A Bonus Ride for Ringo
I’ve been walking every day since this is the only activity I’m cleared for post-surgery, and now Ringo, who has been unable to play with an injured Moose, will be joining me to burn off some of his excess energy. Moose will be undergoing two back to back surgeries, one knee at a time, each with a lengthy recovery period. His recovery requires a strict rest protocol to avoid pressure on his knees.
Despite his injury and related limp, Moose still wants to be active, whether that’s chasing chipmunks in the backyard or playing aggressively with Ringo. Keeping Ringo and Moose from playing will be my biggest challenge during Moose’s months-long recovery period. A key part of my plan is to wear Ringo out with extra activities, including a daily walk with me.
Today we went to Willow Metropark, a great place for dog walking, as there is plenty of room to roam. It was sunny and warm which also helped to tire Ringo. Beyond a way to manage Ringo’s energy while Moose heals, this is bonus time for Ringo and me, and I’m happy to have his company on my daily walks.
