An Afternoon Break with Ringo
It’s been five days since Moose’s knee surgery, and I’ve spent much of this time close to home, hovering near him to ensure he is resting and not licking his incision. It sounds easy enough, but keeping a young, energetic dog calm and out of trouble is a lot of around-the-clock work.
The combination of vigilance, sleep deprivation and boredom caught up with me today and I decided it was time to get outside for a much needed break. Ringo needed to burn off some pent up energy so I loaded him into the FJ and we headed to Willow Metropark.
I was excited to see our favorite trail had reopened following a months-long construction project. The light was perfect here so I stopped and got this gorgeous shot of Ringo.
I’m only five weeks post-op myself and still have quite a bit of healing to do. While Moose is my main focus these days, I’ve still got to take care of myself and the other dogs. Taking this break with Ringo was just what we both needed today.
And of course, we took some time for his signature shot with his head peeking out of the back window of my FJ Cruiser before heading home. ❤️
