A Blue Ribbon for Rocky
We have so much to celebrate today as Rocky’s Canine Good Citizen award coincides with his fifth anniversary with me. That’s five years with the Rockstar who proved, once again, that he is a rockstar.
Rocky has been hard at work with training all summer, with a weekly class that began at the end of May. He performed so well in his classes that our trainer suggested we test him for the esteemed Canine Good Citizen certification. He took the test on Sunday and crushed it.
What has been most remarkable about this experience is how Rocky shines in public. His training takes place in a busy retail environment where we are frequently approached by people who want to meet Rocky. He is an incredible ambassador for canine amputees as well as bully breeds, offering inspiration and love to those who interact with him.
I’m not a fan of the spotlight and prefer to keep to myself, but I have to adapt when I’m out with Rocky. People walk right up to us and engage, and I’ve learned that this is just who Rocky is and perhaps why he’s here. I’ve had to put my aloof nature aside to allow Rocky’s star to shine.
Besides, if you’re going to hang out with a rockstar, you’re going to meet a few fans! And I’m cool with that when it comes to Rocky, who seems to love the spotlight and sharing his superpower with others.
Way to go Rocky! You made the CGC exam look easy while spreading positive vibes to all who witnessed it. And thank you for five amazing years full of love and inspiration and for pushing me beyond my self-inflicted limits. ❤️
