On the Run Again
I’ve had a hell of a time with running this year. After making an amazing cardio comeback in 2024, I faced obstacle after obstacle in 2025. Brutal weather conditions sidelined me in January and February and injuries plagued me in the spring. By the time I recovered from my injuries it was time for my surgery, which came with a lengthy recovery period.
I’ve been making a slow and cautious return to running since late July and I’m finally getting my running mojo back.
I’ve been a runner for most of my life but took five years off while focusing on strength training. A year ago, I somewhat abruptly decided to return to running, and was shocked at how much cardio I had lost. Last year’s return was slow and painful but so worth it.
This year’s running comeback came with a different challenge, taking place six weeks after major surgery that affected multiple body parts. I’ve been taking it very slow because of this, reining in my desire to go faster, further and more frequently.
Both comebacks began in the thick of summer with high temperatures and humidity weighing me down. I’ve made a note to myself to schedule any future comebacks during cooler seasons of the year. 😀
Regardless of my pace and the weather conditions, I’m so happy to be on the run again, and back on my home trail at Crosswinds Marsh. Running provides an instant boost to my mindset and vibration, keeping my spirits high from run to run. I need this potent energy in my life right now and I’m excited to begin another running journey.
